Thomaston Center School Mission Statement


Our mission is to foster personal development and learning by providing a strong foundation of academics with ample opportunity for problem-solving in a setting that inspires creativity, responsibility, citizenship and perseverance in a respectful, safe and supportive environment.

Curriculum

Children learn best when they are given opportunities to make connections between their learning and their experiences in the world

Children must be surrounded with a rich interactive learning environment that will inspire a love of learning.


Students must have access to appropriate academic and social-emotional supports in order for them to reach their full potential


Teaching and Learning

As students develop they will become active and responsible learners who recognize their own strengths and use this knowledge to advance their own learning.


Learning is a lifelong process and opportunities must be presented through a variety of modalities and experiences in order for our students to be motivated learners.


Environment

Mutual respect for all members of the community must be demonstrated through an understanding of diverse cultures and sensitivity towards all backgrounds.

Home-School-Community Connection

A strong, supportive relationship between our school, our families, and our community enhances learning and is necessary if students are to be successful in becoming informed and productive citizens.
